IHSA bass fishing: Top 10 around Chicago fishing

This has become one of my favorite days, the chance to put together a top-10 list of Chicago-area high schools headed to the state championship for bass fishing at Carlyle Lake.

As a former long-time writer of prep sports and a long-time outdoors columnist, this combines dual interests.

Considering this is the fifth year for Illinois' ground-breaking state championship for high school bass fishing, I adjusted how I ranked the top 10. In the early years, I basically lined up the eight or nine sectional winners from the Chicago area and added a wild card or two.

But now we are far enough in that some schools consistently making state and should be recognized.

Enjoy.
