Here's some observations around Chicago fishing at the toughest sectionals in the five years of Illinois' ground-breaking state championship for high school bass fishing.

Lemont won the displaced Des Plaines Conservation Area sectional Friday at Braidwood Lake with 7.l7 pounds.

Grayslake North did their homework to win the displaced Chain No. 1 on Busse South, while Huntley rode a rental boat to victory Thursday at Busse Main in the displaced Chain 2.

LEWISTOWN, Ill.--Just a taste of what I saw this morning as the crest rolled down the Illinois River.

Record floods and ongoing high water figure prominently in this rivers section of a Midwest Fishing Report; should I add the obviously?

The good news is the spurt of jumbo perch in northwest Indiana and the odd news is the on-going ice and ice fishing in northern Wisconsin for this Midwest Fishing Report.

All nine Chicago-area sectionals for Illinois' ground-breaking state championship for high school bass fishing were postponed by flooding on Friday; five were fished today with tough results with cold and often dirty water.

Obviously, it was Joseph Meyer today (sorry about our mix-up on what show was airing) on ``Outside'' this afternoon.

Providence Catholic won the Braidwood Lake sectional for Illinois' high school bass fishing with 9.44 pounds and the only five-fish limit.

I didn't do much in terms of turkeys when turkey hunting last week, but I certainly had some value in wildlife.

Well, that lovely weather altered my plans for this Wild Weekend Wandering around Chicago outdoors; but in a good way.

Considering the weather and water, let's take a break and remember and celebrate bass from shore in the public spaces of Chicago fishing.

Youth hunters came up well short of the record harvest of turkeys in the youth seasons last spring, but they bagged the second highest total on record for the youth seasons this spring.

[UpDATED] All Chicago area sectionals have been postponed because of flooding and or forecast nigh winds.

Rains and major flooding are impacting Chicago fishing and life in major ways, as anybody driving this morning knows.

It's been a spring far different than last year with guide Kurt Justice talking about the possibility of ice for the walleye opener May 4 around Minocqua, Wis.
