I am headed back from Michigan today, but main Wild Weekend Wandering around Chicago outdoors will be going down to the Illinois River for the MWC on Sunday.
I am going to continue to use this more personal style for WWW Chicago outdoors on Fridays.
I should be going to the Henry's ninth annual Coho Derby is 6:30-10 a.m. Saturday along the Adler Planetarium north seawall. It's free and there's prizes, stuff.
But, like most of this weekend, I will be tied up with family stuff--soccer and church events--until Sunday.
Then I am driving down to Spring Valley to see the final weigh-in for the MWC.
The 27th annual Masters Walleye Circuit tournament is Saturday and Sunday on the Illinois River from Starved Rock to the Henry bridge. Weigh-ins begin daily around 3 p.m. at Barto Landing in Spring Valley. Park at Hall High School, then take the shuttle.
The photo above is Roy Vivian last year.
I am curious to see how they will do in the MWC on the Illinois. It's been a much different spring from last year.
Part of the fun of going to the MWC at Spring Valley is taking the back way along the Illinois River.
I had an invitation to fish LaSalle Lake today, but can't make it. That will be the lake of choice until the weather breaks, hopefully by mid-March.
I still need to be my application in for deer season. The first lottery period is up and going this week for Illinois residents for firearm and muzzleloader-only deer seasons. Click here or go to the Online Services tab at dnr.illinois.gov.
Spring has to come soon.
