Nathan Grider talks about his study on alligator gar reintroduction in southern Illinois this afternoon on Outside.
Grider and I also talk about the meaning of the ``River Monsters'' episode, which Jeremy Wade did (above) on alligator gar.
Grider, a University of Illinois-Springfield grad student, also talks about gar in general.
I had not realized it, but alligator gar only officially disappeared from Illinois less than 20 years ago. Good to see the possibility of a comeback, and with some side benefits anticipated at Spunky Bottoms off the Illinois River.
Spunky Bottoms is one of my favorite place names in Illinois.
