The Field & Stream Deer & Turkey Expo opens at 2 p.m. Friday at a different venue in a different town, the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

I plan to be there at the opening. The big question for the weekend will be how many big bucks (how many record-book entries) show up for scoring, especially considering the relatively early date for the show.

To be scored officially, a rack must have dried for 60 days. Illinois' deer seasons just ended a couple weeks ago.

All the same, I expect a good show. It runs through Sunday.

The Great Outdoor Expo is scheduled for Friday through Sunday at Timber Creek Convention Center in Sandwich. I have not received any information on nor heard anything about the show; and the web site has virtually no information.
