John Gardiner found a prime example of the rut in North Riverside last week.
He emailed:
I spotted this beautiful buck out of the window of my home in North Riverside, IL. He and a doe were running through our neighborhood park (Veterans Park on 26th St.). When I took a walk over about ten minutes later, I spotted him taking a little break as the pictures show. The doe was about 50ft. away also laying down. He was more massive than the pictures show. I counted 12 points but I am a true amateur.
That's a pretty nice buck.
