Radio waves: Spreyer on outdoors big picture, peregrines, monk parakeets, raptors

Mark Spreyer talks the big picture in the outdoors, a perspective that puts invasives and other matters in the perspective of centuries, this afternoon on ``Outside.''

The executive director of Stillman Nature Center in South Barrington has had an interesting working life and we touch on peregrine falcons, raptors, great gray owls, monk parakeets and how somebody goes from an undergrad degree in forestry to birds.

I enjoyed the discussion so much that Spreyer will be back in a couple weeks for another ``Outside'' show on a tangential matter.

"Outside" airs from 4:30-5 p.m. Mondays on WKCC-FM (91.1) in Kankakee. Rebroadcasts of the show are at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Laurel Soper, the web tech and digital media person for KCC, has put together the podcast system here.
