Summer vacation was good to former high school bass fishermen from Chicago, good enough for a double FOTW.
In late July, Mike Jarvis caught and released a 15-pound bowfin on a reservoir in northern Wisconsin.
``It was big enough to become the state record, but I decided to release it,'' emailed the Taft High School grad, one of the few to qualify for Illinois' state championship in bass fishing three times.
Meanwhile, on a spring trip to Ontario, Michael Wilson, a Marist High School grad and former member of the Redhawk bass fishing team, caught his first 50-inch muskie with a red Mepps Musky Killer.
``I think his smile tells the rest of the story,'' his uncle Art Gazda emailed.
