Paul Petan Jr. caught his first trophy walleye about 8 p.m. June 23 from a northeast Indiana lake and earned FOTW honros.
According to his father, the 14-year-old was fishing a white spinner bait in 12 feet of water when it hit. It measured just over 26 inches.
The Palos Park teen was fishing with his grandfather, Hank Petan of Oak Lawn, and they also caught some nice bass up to 16 inches.
