Add a second photo this month of a snake eating a fish.
Jim Spiros forwarded this from his friend Dr. Shawn Mallady, who observed it at a strip pit near Kickapoo State Park.
Spiros, son of the Southwest Side and founding partner of the law firm where my wife works as a receptionist, thought it might be a prairie king snake. I favor a northern watersnake.

That's definately a N. Watersnake and a beaut at that! They must be finding dead fish for a snake that size could not hold onto a live fish as it would thrash around too much it to maintain a grip.
How unusual for you to get two pictures like this in a month?
very unusual. And it is interesting that this occurred several hundred miles apart from each other
