Radio waves: McCarty on high school bass fishing & Bassmaster Classic

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Rick McCarty discusses high school bass fishing and his own Bassmaster Classic experience this afternoon on "Outside."

McCarty is one of the boat captains/coaches for the bass fishing team at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, which has one of the top programs in the state with three state trips in four years.

We start off talking about that. We recorded the show a couple days before the Boilermakers finished sixth at state with Jack Waldschmidt and Adam Johnson (shown above after winning the Braidwood sectional in April).

Then we move into McCarty's own experience as a tournament bass fisherman and being one of only three or four Illinois fisherman to reach the Bassmaster Classic.

"Outside" airs from 4:30-5 p.m. Mondays on WKCC-FM (91.1) in Kankakee. Rebroadcasts of the show are at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Laurel Soper, the web tech and digital media person for KCC, has put together the podcast system here.
