CARLYLE, Ill.--The boats for opening day of the IHSA bass fishing state championship started promptly on Carlyle Lake, then an outflow storm line forced postponement almost immediately.
All four years so far of the state tournament have had weather impacts. Such is spring.
The tournament started promptly with Moline, one of the three schools to qualify all four years, being first boat out at 6:57 a.m.
All 57 boats took off by 7:15.
But an outflow front that sagged south forced IHSA officals to order all boats off the lake and to seek shelter about 7:30 a.m. The worst of the storm appeared to be on the north end of the lake.
I expect them to be able to get back out later this morning.

Great update on the IHSA tournament. I thank you.
