One of my favorite weeks of the year, combining my love of outdoors and prep sports, is this one with the rankings of Chicago-area high schools in bass fishing.
It was a hard call, but Minooka, shown above after winning the Heidecke sectional, was ranked No. 2.
BASS FISHING RANKINGS
Rankings for Chicago-area for high school bass fishing after the 2012 sectionals. State finals are Friday-Saturday at Carlyle Lake.
1. Streamwood: Fourth straight year to state
2. Minooka: Third straight year (four boats) to state, Heidecke champs
3. Zion-Benton: Third year (four boats) to state, Chain 1I champs
4. Bradley-Bourbonnais: Third year to state, Braidwood champs with 15.92 bag
5. Taft: Third year to state, Skokie Lagoons champ
6. Lake Park: Busse champs with 11-12 bag
7. Brother Rice: Wolf Lake champs
8. St. Charles North: Shabbona Lake champs
9. Barrington: Chain 1 champs
10. Hinsdale Central: Third straight year to state (four boats)
Bubble: Grant (third straight year to state) and Marmion (third state trip)
