Nick Doumel and I start with "trash fish," then move on to outdoors blogging and touch on the Des Plaines River on "Outside" this afternoon.

It was good to talk gar and bowfin with somebody who loves them.
Doumel is the owner and lead blogger of BrookfieldAngler.com and also the vice-president of Des Plaines River Anglers Association.
If you are wondering why there is no usual photo of Doumel in front of the WKCC sign, let's just say I was running late because I was distracted by photographing a bunch of turkeys I spotted on the way to the studio.
"Outside" airs from 4:30-5 p.m. Mondays on WKCC-FM (91.1) in Kankakee. Rebroadcasts of the show are at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.
Laurel Soper, the web tech and digital media person for KCC, has put together the podcast system here.

drop the "trash" all fish are worth catching
Exactly!
That mussel that I mention is called the Yellow Sandshell (Lampsilis teres) and the gar, not the bowfin, is a main host for it.
Thanks. I love it. Will get it up on FB for Outside with Dale Bowman, too.
