Radio waves: Kidd on kids fishing league

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

John Kidd Jr. talks about Fishin' Buddies! Youth Fishing League 2012 on "Outside" this afternoon.

I thought I had the usual photo of our guests in front of the WKCC photo, but I can't find one, so I ran this one of Kidd handling a Fishin' Buddies! event a couple summers ago.

Beside getting kids outside and interested in the wilds, Kidd sees the league as a way to introduce to fishing to younger kids.

One side benefit might be to help urban kids learn fishing early enough that they can participate in Illinois' high school bass fishing championship.

The league will be run on Saturdays at five different lakes in the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, which is a partner.

Kidd is president and one of the founders of FB. He knows teaching kids fishing, but he needs help, especially coaches for this program.

"Outside" airs from 4:30-5 p.m. Mondays on WKCC-FM (91.1) in Kankakee. Rebroadcasts of the show are at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Laurel Soper, the web tech and digital media person for KCC, has put together the podcast system here.
