Services for Harold ``Coho Harry'' Holubes are tomorrow morning.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel at Holy Cross Cemetary in Calumet City.
Mr. Holubes, 87, was a legend among southern Lake Michigan fishermen and one of its greatest citizen scientists. He was found dead in his home in East Chicago, Ind. last Wednesday.
As one reader put it, he was a character. He was one of those who tirelessly watched over southern Lake Michigan, especially the salmon, hence the name most of us knew him by.
I had quite a time confirming his death on Thursday because everybody knew Mr. Holubes simply as "Coho Harry."
We lost a great one.
The photo is a sunrise from an Indiana salmon outing five years ago. At first I thought that I should try and find a sunset from southern Lake Michigan, then thought the sunrise is just right.
"Coho Harry" deserves to be rising.

Yes "Coho Harry" will be missed! Many early morning conversations with him at the East Chicago,Indiana boat ramp that he never wanted to end. He will definately be missed!
Poorboy
it was unreal how he also knew where the salmon were biting, i'm gonna miss his presence around the east chicago marina

Very interesting. Wish I had seen this sooner. I could have gotten it in the Post-Tribune and Sun-Times. That is quite the collection of stuff, the stuff of a lifetime.
