Catching up on FOTW, here with Ed Potocki from last Wednesday.
He showed muskie hunters can ice fish, too. On Jan. 28, he caught the crappie above at a derby for veterans on Bangs Lake in Wauconda.
``Not much action all morning on grubs and waxies in six to nine feet, so I headed for deeper water,'' he emailed. ``I switched to a Genz Bug [glow in the dark white] and put on Berkley Gulp! Alive! pink waxies. About five minutes later, jigging in 16 feet, the 14-inch crappie hit 12 inches off the bottom. 11:30 a.m. So much for the crappie bite after dark?''
With ice fishing in such short supply this winter, I am just glad to squeeze in an ice-fishing FOTW.
