Brookfield Zoo photographer Jim Schulz caught Ron, an 11 1/2-year-old bison at Brookfield Zoo, enjoying his seasonal enrichment treat on Jan. 14 of a fir tree.
Many of the 400-plus firs used to decorate the zoo during its annual Holiday Magic festival are given to the animals for enrichment or mulched, said Sondra Katzen, zoo media relations manager.
I loved the photo enough to run it as Wild of the Week, which runs some Sundays outdoors page of the Sun-Times.
For some reason, the last couple weeks of the outdoor notes, including WOTW, have not been posted online.
