U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service fisheries biologist Rob Elliott discusses the reintroduction of sturgeon around Lake Michigan this afternoon on "Outside."
The sturgeon wander Lake Michigan extensively, and Elliott explains how sturgeon, like the one above found in a pipe off Chicago, end up in southern Lake Michigan.
He also gets into how the reintroduction is being done in various rivers around Lake Michigan. I find sturgeon endlessly fascinating and it is interesting to have nearly half an hour to discuss them with somebody with Elliott's knowledge.
For the introduction to Elliott, I should thank Brian Breidert, the fisheries biologist for Lake Michigan in Indiana.
"Outside" airs from 4:30-5 p.m. Mondays on WKCC-FM (91.1) in Kankakee. Rebroadcasts of the show are at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.
This was my second radio broadcast as solo host, and I am proud of it and hope we can keep this topical aspect going into my first year solo.
