So Thursday I have the kids with me while I am doing my usual August drive-around (think walkabout with a car) to find dove photos.
It took a bit to find fields dry enough to draw doves, but once we found those, we found doves.
And I got some passable photos. I missed the shot of one line with dozens of doves on it. Too many eyes watching as I lifed the camera.
But I missed the truly great shot.
My daughter spotted a red-tailed hawk sitting on the diagonal wood of a telephone pole. That was cool enough in its own right. But then maybe 10 feet away were two doves.
We were all laughing.
Unfortunately, before I could get the camera on them, first the red-tail flew off, then the doves.
But we have the memory.
