The muskie rescue below the Shabbona Lake dam will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Here are the details from Duane Landmeier:
Spread the word we will be doing a muskie rescue June 4 Saturday 8:30 A.M. Meet at the Archery hunting area on Shabbona Grove Road.We will be doing the whole creek from Shabbona Grove Road to the dam.
We need help. Bring a muskie sized net. Also if you have a large cooler to transport fish in would help.
Hope to see you there. There will be a lot of fish we need able bodies to help.

I've never understood this. Why not let them wander down Indian Creek to the Fox River. They are river fish after all, not lake fish. Apparently they know better and are just doing what comes naturally.
Yeah. I know this is s blog and is not meant to have loads of info but I would like to know why they need rescuing? Fish wash over dams all the time. I'm sure there is a good reason for it and am curious to know more. Does the DNR want this done?
The DNR does assist. The basic idea is that Indian Creek really is not the kind of habitat to sustain real msukies. Some of it goes to broader issues with muskie introduction in Illinois.
