Wake for Frank Didier, president of the Evanston Boat Ramp Association, is tonight.

As somebody who has two great threads in my writing career--preps and outdoors--the Illinois state championship for high school bass fishing merges both.

It only seems apt to run the Stray Cast here, especially one on Steve Stone.

It's been quite the spring for trying to pull together fishing reports with all the weather changes, but here goes the Midwest Fishing Report for this week.

I debated not doing a rivers section of the Midwest Fishing Report or waiting until later today. But you know what, I think most people can figure out the rains overnight and forecast for today will alter things.

There's the summer usuals in this Wild Weekend Wanderings around Chicago outdoors, then there's the naked bike ride Saturday.

Perch starting to come in on the Chicago lakefront, coho at North Point and free fishing days lead this lakes/areas section of the Midwest Fishing Report.

Rivers are returning toward something close to summer normal and it's just nice to have more normal reports for this rivers section of the Midwest Fishing Report.

The muskie rescue on Indian Creek today returned 61 muskies and three hybrid striped bass to Shabbona Lake.

The IHSA has rescheduled Illinois's high school bass fishing championship, which had been postponed by the near-record flooding on Carlyle Lake.

It's a good packed Wild Weekend Wandering around Chicago outdoors: lakefront perch fishing to shooting in Mokena to celebrating urban wilds at Beaubien Woods, and beyond.

The muskie rescue below the Shabbona Lake dam will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Lakes and local ponds have been the spot in this stretch of continued varied weather and lead this Midwest Fishing Report, I might add the white bass action on Lake Shelbyville, too.

High water, at least around Chicago fishing, leads this Midwest Fishing Report.
