Looking at the radar and the forecast, I thought about holding off doing the rivers section of the Midwest Fishing Report until later today, but I suspect fishermen know river conditions could change significantly.
This is the extended online version of the MFR, which appears on the Sun-Times outdoors page on Wednesdays.
Well, this is the rivers section for rivers around Chicago fishing. The lakes and areas MFR will follow shortly.
Normally, I post the online MFR, both the rivers and lakes/areas sections, by Wednesday morning.
I will probably separate out the rivers section like this until the fall.

CHICAGO RIVER
Haven't heard the latest yet from Jeff Nolan of Bridgeport Bass.
DES PLAINES RIVER
I need to check with Andrew Ragas, Counsellor of the Fish Parliament www.fishing-headquarters.com. I thought he was doing a report this week, but I might have missed it.
DuPAGE RIVER
Had a decent report from Frank Macikas late last week, but not since.
FOX RIVER: WESTERN SUBURBS
Creeks remain the best option, but the river was dropping. However guide Ken Gortowski found it tough, most likely because of post-spawn conditions and the water still being higher. But that really doesn't do justice to fullness of his report. Click here for that. It is well worth the read.
ILLINOIS RIVER
As of Tuesday, the river was in good shape. Time on the Water Outdoors reported catfish and drum picking up, white bass shallow and sauger being taken on the Peru and Hennepin flats on crankbaits or jig and minnow.
KANKAKEE RIVER
Norm Minas sent this:
Smallmouth on seams and mudlines on crankbaits[mostly Bandit 200] worked upstream and Rapala J-9. Plenty of rock bass on light jig and straight tail 3 inch worm and plastic leech.

The Kankakee River is near normal in most areas.
Northern Pike being caught in Indiana on minnows *spoons*spinners. Best around
Rt. 39 & 8 as well as at LaSalle F&W. In Illinois, good around *Momence *Kankakee Dam through Johnson's Fishermans Park *Wilmington Dam through Island Park.
Smallmouth & Largemouth Bass being caught east of Momence
*Smallmouth Bass *Kankakee River State Park *Wilmington Area. Remember in Illinois, all size smallmouth bass have to be returned to the water at once through June 15.
Catfish good on *minnows *chicken liver. in both IN and IL. Walleye fair.
MAZON RIVER
Morris Wetlands is open for fishing that stretch of the Mazon. Hours will 6 a.m. to sunset.
MENOMINEE RIVER, WIS./MICH.
Guide Mike Mladenik reported legal walleye daily on High Falls Flowage on leeches, smallmouth shallow hitting Case Magic Sticks.
ROCK RIVER
OREGON: Jan Prose at TJ's Bait/Tackle & Canoe Rental sent this:
The river came up a foot with the recent rain, but it's appears to be dropping back about as fast. Should be more clear by the weekend too. There's been some large carp caught this past week. Kids are having fun pulling in 5 pounds or better! Catfish are hitting on dip bait, liver and worms. They seem to be getting larger in size of late too. I heard some Northern were caught also on minnows.
ROOT RIVER
I think the Wisconsin DNR Root River Report is finished for the year. It hasn't been updated since early May.
ST. JOSEPH RIVER, MICH.
Tyler Harmon Facebooked that there is sheephead off the pier and catfish in the river. He said no summer steelhead yet.
WISCONSIN DELLS
River's Edge reported walleye are good mornings on half a crawler or a leech, white bass are picking up toward the dam.
WOLF RIVER, WIS.: FREMONT
Guide Bill Stoeger said the white bass are making a lot of ``happy people'' with big females spawning. Work along the grass for the females, and about any where for the males, with your bait or lure of choice. He expects another two weeks of good action.
