Illinois hunting: 1st season turkey/south zone

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

A tough opening day on April 4 kept down first season turkey harvest in Illinois' south zone.

Here are the basics:

The first season of regular wild turkey hunting opened in the south zone April 4th - 8th. Preliminary harvest for the entire 5 day season is 1,523 - slightly off the harvest pace of 1,637 for the first south zone season in 2010. A rainy and slow opening morning contributed to this reduction, however the harvest picked up later in the week as weather improved. The top five counties were Jackson, Pope, Jefferson, Union and Johnson.
