Ramble with Storm: Gone

| 3 Comments | No TrackBacks

storm3x Mulling things on my morning ramble

with Storm, the family's mixed Lab.

Bizarre scene as the meathead and I crossed the tracks: Waves rolling across the north part of the town pond.

Bizarre because I haven't seen open water there since early December.

I have seen ice disappear fast, but this is close to as fast as I have seen ice disappear in a day.

Yesterday morning, there was a small patch of open water by the neckdown between the two old clay pits.

Three pairs of Canada geese sat on the ice, well, one of them floated in the open water on the edge of the ice.

Now, this morning, the entire north end is completely open.

Nothing like a 60-degree day, followed by a thunderstorm with a driving .8 inches of rain to clear out ice.

Oh, I do enjoy having weather where I can jam the plastic rain gauge in the garden again.

Of course, the south back corner of the south side looked to have enough ice left over to stand on.

Storm and I didn't try it.

I am not a complete idiot.

But I have a feeling, even with the cold today, the driving north wind will open that up by Sunday.

I, for one, will not miss it.

Saw bright green things between all the dead things on a venture along the river the other day.

A few more weeks and flowers carpeting the forest floors.

Sights and smells I look forward to.

I've got to get out and see if the ramps started poking out yet. I tried once with that I'm not a complete idiot line. Her response was complete or not you're still an idiot.

Hey Man , I'm calling FOUL you said " storm gone" Had me freaked out...... storm will be here forever !
