We're winding down on showtime around Chicago outdoors, but there are plenty of options this weekend.
Joe Cornwall (above) learned a variety of fly fishing growing up out East, but smallmouth stole a special piece of his heart and still do for the Ohio fly fisherman and outdoors communicator.
He makes an outstanding choice as the featured speaker at the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance's BRONZEBACK BLOWOUT on Saturday at the Elmhurst American Legion.
There's lots of other stuff too: dinner, speakers, silent auction, and on.
The big show this weekend is the Lake Home & Cabin Show at Schaumburg Convention Center Friday through Sunday. As the name implies, this is a show geared toward your getaway place.
I have not been to it yet, but would like to, as somebody who had a piece of a cabin for years--until we started having kids, then other priorities took over.
The Rockford Boat Show and companion Fishing & Outdoor Expo is at the Indoor Sports Center in Rockford Friday through Sunday.
The relatively new, but steadily building in popularity, Great Outdoors Expo is this weekend at Woodstock North High School in Woodstock.
Another high school-based show is the Elmwood All Outdoors Show at Elmwood High School and Grade School in central Illinois.

That was brutal to watch.
I was entranced by it. I kept waiting for something, anything. Think of it as a mood piece. Reminded me of being back at a modern lit class in college for some reason. You and I might have been the only two to watch it through. Probably doesn't speak well for either of us.

If this is what guys want, I have hours of boring time on the water. I should start filming it.
