Chicago outdoors showtime: Rosemont rebound

I enjoyed being at America's Outdoor Show last week like I haven't enjoyed being at an outdoor show in a long time, and I was not alone according to attendance figures.

Owner Jim Sugarman e-mailed figures that showed a 28.5 percent jump in total attendance. That figure, which includes exhibitors and special event contractors, was 19,275, which compares to 15,000 last year.

Total confirmed attendees was 16,475, up from 13,331 last year, Sugarman said.

As to this weekend, weekend of the Super Bowl, there's only a lone new show.

Joe Bucher headlines the new Great Outdoors Fishing, Hunting, Boat, and RV Expo at Best Western Timber Creek in Sandwich Saturday and Sunday.
