Spence Petros sends around a fishing report and thoughts every few weeks.

I think it is worth reading what the biggest name in Chicago fishing and the veteran fishing teacher has to say. That's him in the photo above from a few years ago on an outing I did with him on Eagle Lake in Canada.

Here's his thoughts for early January:

Joe Bucher Shows will air on the Sportsman's channel on Tues. 5:30 am, Thurs. 11:30 am, Fri. 2:30 am and Sunday 8 am. I was on show 1, but won't be on show 2 that starts Tues., but will be on at least 10 of the 13 new segments with lessons. The North American Fisherman show on Lake of the Woods for fall muskies (trolling), will air on Verses Channel the first week of February. Sorry for any previous wrong information. Make sure you check out the web-site for the big show at Rosemont (www.americasoutdoorshow.com). They will have over 100 seminars and lots of things to do. I will be doing lure demonstrations in America's Lake on Sat. and Sun. on musky/pike lures and panfish presentations on both days.

Fish are still biting well through the ice. The last two hours of the day have been the best. If you are fishing clear water or it's a bright day, the last hour might provide 90% of the days action. Don't quit too early. A good ice-fishing guide that has all the gear and is very reasonable is Dave Burba 224-588-2002.

See you at the shows,

Spence
