One of Illinois' loudest voices for conservation was silenced Thursday when Gerald ``Gerry'' Rodeen died.

That's Mr. Rodeen (above) with his dog Lucy in November, 2006 on one of several hunts I shared with him. I also watched Mr. Rodeen, who helped found Illinois' first chapter of Pheasants Forever operate at several meetings related to conservation.
We lost somebody who could get things done for conservation in Illinois. And that's a rare commodity in our state.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the First Lutheran Church in Paxton, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to Pheasants Forever Young Guns or memorial gifts in his honor may be made to a society that supports bi-polar or depression research.
This one is close to my heart.

We at Bridgeportbass send our condolences to Gerry's family and all saddened by this great loss . Chicagoland outdoors will now have a huge void in conservation and contribution . Rest in peace old friend . Jeff Nolan
Oh my. This is stunning to hear.
Gerry and I spent a good deal of time together at Conservation Congress, and had plans to work on some specific things.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
