For whatever reason, I never receive a lot of FOTW nominations from ice fishing, but Federico Saavedra's son nominated him.

He was ice fishing for yellow perch at Montrose Harbor when he caught a surprise 13-inch salmon.
His son e-mailed:
It bit a piece of shrimp that a guy that was about to leave gave us. It did not really give a battle because it was a small fish, but it is the first salmon my dad caught while ice fishing.
I like the story.
Normally, I will just link to FOTW on the Sun-Times outdoors page. For some reason, it was not posted today.
E-mail FOTW nominations to straycasts@sbcglobal.net.
