There's a die-off of young gizzard shad on the Chicago lakefront.
Click here for one of more bizarre stories I have tracked down.
I first got a call from Carl Vizzone on Thursday asking if Canada geese normally ate gizzard shad, because he was watching some do just that.
Friday I spent some time looking around at small dead gizzard shad, both piled up in open water and frozen in the ice of the Chicago harbors. And taking pictures of Canada geese and mallards eating dying or dead shad.
Just weird.
