In memory: Mike Bonadonna

Mike ``Fish'' Bonadonna died far too young.

The funeral service for Mr. Bonadonna will be held at McMurrough Funeral Chapel in Libertyville at 11 this morning.

At 48, he died far too young, especially for somebody known for going through life with a smile.

Mr. Bonadonna worked for Sportco Marketing, but he was more commonly known around here as the Shimano rep.

Greg Dickson at Triangle Sports was pulling up memories this morning and gave Mr. Bonadonna the ultimate compliment, ``He was a true professional and very good at it.''

Mr. Bonadonna was the kind of hard-worker who paid attention to details. If he saw somebody had caught a big notable fish using Shimano equipment, he would try to reach out to them, I know for the times he asked for contact info after stories.

And there was something else Dickson put well, ``If he talked, he didn't talk unless he knew what he was talking about. That came from building rods with his brother under the guidance of their father.''

That would be the Bon A Don Fishing Shop in Half Day, Mr. Bonadonna's hometown.

In lieu of flowers, make memorial donations to the "Educational Fund for Joseph Bonadonna," c/o State Bank of the Lakes, attn: Dianne P., 1906 Holian Drive, Spring Grove, IL 60087. Call (847) 362-2626 for info.
