Overhead for hours, even a few minutes ago, more and more Canada geese coming through could be heard; the change is here for hunters and the Illinois Hunting Report.
The photo above is Mike Resetich coming back with a black duck on a 2007 hunt along the Illinois River. I like the image, and it is one we will be seeing more of over the next few days.
During the hunting seasons, the extended online version of the IHR, which comes at the end of the Midwest Fishing Report in the Sun-Times on Wednesdays, is usually posted here on Tuesdays.

Oh, we are going to lead with waterfowl, because the change is coming.
NORTH ZONE WATERFOWL
Fresh birds are arriving.
The change had not yet come Monday when Mike Richied, a guide with Ultimate Waterfowlers, sent this:
The dog days of November are here. While we still enjoy success here at Ultimate Waterfowlers, we have been forced to work extremely hard for each and every goose and duck. Extremely stale birds and warm, spring-like weather have made things tough on us. We saw several small groups of migrators, but nothing even close to the main migration. Hopefully we see some major pushes of new birds down from the north soon. Until then, I have found that changing your setup around, even a little bit has been effective on these highly pressured birds.
Things are different now on the back side of the front.
Seasons: Duck season runs through Dec. 14; Canada geese, snow geese and white-fronted geese seasons run through Jan. 8.
