Gunter Kehrhahn proved monster largemouth bass can be caught from cold, hard-fished public waters.

The well-known Kenosha, Wis. bank fisherman caught this 21-incher from a Lake County forest preserve on Thanksgiving.
``[It was] one of many caught that day before the barometer began to rise,'' said Todd Carlander, one of Chicago's top bank fishermen who nominated Kehrhahn for Fish of the Week honors. ``When it did, the bite stopped cold. (I even caught a largemouth on a homemade Suick that day, they were that aggressive).''
It was caught on a creek chub, then released. Two keys are there for cold-water fishing: use live bait and watch the barometer.
