Kevin Wheeler sent this photo his son Mike took with his cell phone at St. Paul Woods in Morton Grove for Buck of the Week: Unplugged.

``We have been driving through these woods for years looking at the countless deer that visit these feeding grounds,'' Wheeler said. ``Our record for counting deer in the open fields at St. Paul Woods is 67 on one late afternoon after school a few years back. The deer seem to be so used to people in these woods that we hardly even seemed to matter to this buck.''
First, I am very impressed that this is a cellphone photo. How far we have come.
Second, I am not sure that a deer count that high is the best for all concerned.
But I love the image of the buck coming out into the parking lot not far from the trash can. That's the essence of BOTW: Unplugged, the weekly celebration of live big bucks around Chicago outdoors.
BOTW: Unplugged runs Sundays, when antlered bucks are around, on the outdoors page of the Sun-Times. An online version appears here, usually on Sunday, bit early this week.
