From Chicago's Southeast Side, Bill Peak brings another nice Buck of the Week: Unplugged entry.

Peak, who originally sparked the idea for BOTW:Unplugged, the weekly celebration of big live bucks around Chicago outdoors, sent this explanation:
[Above] is a photo of the first buck that I have seen in over 3 months and the doe that he following around the Hegewisch marsh.
Oh, there's nothing like the rut.

Apparently, this was the object of his attention.
BOTW: Unplugged runs Sundays, when antlered bucks are around, on the outdoors page of the Sun-Times. An online version appears here, usually on Sunday.
E-mail nominations for BOTW: Unplugged to outdoordb@sbcglobal.net.

I live on the northwest side, a few houses off Foster, across from Gompers.
Last fall I pulled in to park in front of my house when out of the corner of my eye I saw something dart out from between the houses.
Turned out to be an eight point buck that took off and darted across Foster into the park.
You see deer roaming the neighborhoods in Edgebrook pretty often, but this was a first in North Mayfair - at least for me.
Wish I had a camera with me.
