Brothers Mark and Brian Mazur from Wadsworth won the Illinois Walleye Trail opener on the Illinois River by catching a limit weighing 9.59 pounds to earn $2,000 on Sunday.

The Illinois Walleye Trail Season Opener was held on Sunday October 24, 2010. Even with the river level low and hardly any current every team brought fish to the scales. The main problem was that size was still on the small side. The brother team of Mark and Brian Mazur from Wadsworth Illinois captured first place with a limit weighing 9.59 pounds earning them $2,000.00. Brian and Mark caught there fish upstream From Henry pulling three ways on the first break. Second place went to Max Actis, Spring Valley and Mike Stuckert Spring Valley with six fish limit weighing 9.08 pounds cashing $1,175.00. Max and Mike both running Lund Boats also received the $500.00 grass Roots bonus money as the first Lund Boat owner in the money. Third palace honors went to father and son Bruce and Wayne Merkel Spring Valley with 9.05 pounds cashing $800.00. Big Fish honors went to the Husband and wife team of Leslie and Cliff Banks for $380.00. Jim McDonald and Joe Miller was the first Lund Boat owner not cashing a check and received the $100.00 gift certificate compliments of Hennepin Marine.
