Illinois Walleye Trail: Kleszyk and Zurawski win

Dave Kleszyk of Oak Brook and Dave Zurawski of Justice won ($1,425) the Illinois Walleye Trail Fall Classic on the Illinois River out of Henry with 11.03 pounds.

The Illinois Walleye Trail held its Annual Fall classic Sauger/Walleye Tournament out of Henry, Illinois. The cool weather early last week changed over to above normal temps with mid 80's Saturday and Sunday. That never stopped the fish from biting and biting they did. Crank baits were the rule. The field of 26 team's had 23 teams with a 6 fish limit weighing 202 pounds for 143 total fish scaled. Placing first and winning $1,425.00 was Dave Kleszyk from Oakbrook and partner Dave Zurawski from Justice, Illinois with 11.03 pounds. Earning 2nd place and $1,000.00 was the father and son team of Tom Giachetto Sr. and Tom Giachetto Jr. from Ladd with 9.80 pounds. Third place honors went to Bruce Merkel Spring Valley and Dave Hall with 9.70 and $625.00. Big Fish honors went to Joe Miller and Jim McDonald with a 2.43 pound Sauger worth $260.00

The Illinois Walleye Trail season opener will be at Spring Valley on October 24, 2010.
