Bowhunting for deer in Illinois continues to lag behind the pace of 2009, I suspect a product of the unusually mild weather.
Here's the latest update from IDNR forest wildlife program manager Paul Shelton:
Through the end of the day on Sunday, 10/24/2010, archery deer harvest stands at 17,745, compared to 20,469 (2009), 16,501 (2008), and 15,345 (2007). Archery harvest sex ratios have been 68.5% female: 31.5% male. Top five counties are Pike (702), Fulton (462), Jefferson (411), Peoria (401), and Vermilion (379). A table of individual county results, with comparable results for prior years, is attached.
