The Oak Lawn team of Matt Hentgen, Kody Frega, Kyle Kallenborn and Carlos Patino won the 14-boat Oak Lawn Community High School Spartan Bass Tournament on the Kankakee and Des Plaines rivers on Saturday (CORRECTED TEAM MEMBERS, sorry Matt)
Scott Orban of Unique Bassmasters captained the team.
Eight schools--Reavis, Marist, Lemont, Seneca, De La Salle, Minooka, Harlan and Oak Lawn--participated in the tournament out of Des Plaines SWFA near Wilmington.
The freshman Frega had the anchoring bass of 2.29 pounds. All four team members caught smallmouth.
Lemont's Chris Walter caught the big bass, a largemouth of 3.1 pounds.
Very cool example coming out of Illinois' ground-breaking high school bass fishing progam.
