Mark Tsurkis of Wheeling caught the first legal lake sturgeon of the hook and line season on the Wisconsin River at the Wisconsin Dells.

Tsurkis (right), who was fishing with his buddy Vitaly Jentimir, earned Fish of the Week honors.
I believe this is a FOTW first.
They registered the sturgeon at at River's Edge, where Botch Leonhardt said it measured 60.5 inches and weighed 47 pounds.
Legal sturgeon must be 60 inches or longer. A harvest tag is required. The season at the Dells runs through Sept. 30. Click here for more on hook and line sturgeon season in Wisconsin.
FOTW usually tops the Midwest Fishing Report on the outdours page of the Sun-Times each Wednesday. An extended online version appears here, usually by midnight Tuesday.
