Wild Tuesday: First hummingbird

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Yes, I am a little proud of this shot.

Although, for whatever reason, I couldn't get the wing beats.

Yesterday, one of the young ones shouted there was a hummingbird at the feeder. So I sprinted over, as did, Storm, the family's mixed Lab, and of course the hummer disappeared.

But it came back and my patience was rewarded.

Then the two middle kids said it has been coming around for several days already.

That made me wonder if I am losing my observation skills.

The combination of my hummingbird feeder and my wife's wonderful hanging basket of petunias seems to be magic for hummers.

A brilliant goldfinch worked my wife's sunflowers too. But that shot didn't turn out as well. I suspect you may see that another day.
