Rock River: Big catfish

| 1 Comment | 1 TrackBack

What I loved reading about the Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail's $10,000.00 Super Event on the Rock River at Dixon this weekend was the catfish big enough at 43.6 pounds to take second place by itself.

The Machesney Park team of Zachary Purington and Philip Asbell caught it fishing bullheads five miles downriver of Page Park.

Mark Farrow of Meredosia and Jerry Cline of Springfield took first with five cats weighing 53.15 pounds. They fished between Erie and Moline in 8 feet of water using mooneye. Teams are allowed to weigh their top 5 fish for the day.

Here are the details:

Cabela's King Kat Tournament Results for the $10,000.00 Super Event at Dixon, Illinois

This past Saturday June 12th the Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail held another successful $10,000.00 Super Event on the Rock River at Dixon Illinois. 164 anglers from 8 different states were competing not only for cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2010 Cabela's King Kat Classic to be held November 12th & 13th on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway at Columbus, Mississippi.

"The teams had to battle heavy rains throughout the day, and even during the weigh in. Nearly 400 people braved the rain to watch a unbelievable weigh in" said Tournament Director Tanner Tabor. "We saw several big fish weighed in which all came out of shallow water. We would like to thank Dixon tourism, and Kodiak Outdoor Sports for headlining the event, as well all the local sponsors who helped make this event a huge success", said Tabor.
