I'm an old preps writer.

It's how I got my foot in the door at the Sun-Times.
So there's something thrilling to my heart to do a basic game story on Marist winning the Andrew Invitational for bass fishing, as if it is the same as basketball or football game.
It made for a wonderful Saturday watching the joy of the kids fishing the tournament out of Big Basin Marina on the Des Plaines.
The basic gamer, as game stories are known, is posted here at YourSeason.com.
Agate is the fine print details normally printed at the back of the sports section.
It really makes my day to be able to post agate for the Andrew Invite, the same as track meet results or a volleyball tournament.

That's Nick Engel with big fish for the tournament. The sophomore is a big kid, who dwarfs a quality fish.
