There's the usual spring spread of opportunities for this Wild Weekend Wanderings around Chicago outdoors.
Weather will make a dramatic change from the past few days, so options may change by Saturday, but here goes.
LaSALLE LAKE: The cooling lake south of Seneca with its hot water--we found some to 90 degrees back in the hot channel opening day--should hold up for both shore and boat fishing. If the winds and weather aren't too bad, I would expect another packed house for boaters.
BRAIDWOOD LAKE: If LaSalle is too packed, Braidwood has rebounded enough to be another option. But let's face it, Braidwood is not LaSalle.
COHO DERBY: Henry's Sixth Annual Spring Coho Derby is Saturday on the north side of Solidarity Drive. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Call (312) 225-8538 or go to henryssports.com. The coho have been spotty on the lakefront, browns have been better and bigger. It should be interesting.
STORE STUFF: L.L. Bean at South Barrington and Skokie holds its Spring Fishing Weekend through Sunday.
WATER WORD: A town hall meeting on water and the environment will by held by Metropolitan Water Reclamation commissioners Debra Shore and Gloria Majewski, state senator Maggie Crotty, state representative Robert Rita and Orland Park mayor Dan McLaughlin at the Orland Park public library from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
SHOWTIME: The Evergreen Park Fraternal Order of Police Lodge's fundraiser/sports show, includes refreshments, fishing clubs and Ducks Unlimited, etc. today. It is at 115 Bourbon Street, Merrionette Park. Tickets ($20 in advance) are available at the police station. . . . The Travel and Adventures Show is at Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont this weekend.
PERSONAL PICKS: I'm disappearing for a few days around the NCAA tournaments in Harbor Country in SW Michigan, so not much other than kicking back is in my plans. However, I usually try to sneak in one morning in an attempt to catch a whitefish off the St. Joe pier.
