Wild Sunday: Goosed

At what point do you begin to wonder just how smart Canada geese really are?

Canada geese began migrating back into the Chicago outdoors a good week ago.

These are part of a flock that returned last Sunday. For the past week, they've eaten in the cornfields and spent their nights looking stupid while standing on ice.

There's a slight chance some water may open up today, but I suspect it will more likely be Monday or Tuesday before big chunks open up.

The angle of the sun might have said migrate, but the ice on the ponds made that a hard decision.
