Dave Olzeski took this buck photo in northern Illinois last Sunday, Feb. 28.

The realtor from Park Ridge often sends updates on rut and deer during bowhunting season.
The photo above intrigued me enough by its lateness in the year to ask forest wildlife program manager Paul Shelton about antler loss.
Bell curve is the best description of antler drop, and that became my outdoors column in the Sun-Times today.

This is the first time I have tried this on Stray Casts, but I posted the chart Shelton sent from SIUC.
