As befits the days on the edge of winter and spring, let's double up on Fish of the Week with a brown trout and a largemouth bass from Friday.
First the brown from Billy Miller:
Giant brown 15 # caught Friday March 19 at 95th. Street trolling a blue and silver three quarter ounce cleo. The person holding the fish is Billy the "Coach" Miller The boat captain East side fishing guru Jack Conley.
Considering spring is just starting, there have been some nice browns already caught.
Then let's move inland, to a pond around Mokena and this on a largemouth from Ken O'Malley:
Hey Dale. I thought I would share this with you. I love the time change and nice weather! I have been able to get out after work this week and hit my favorite pond a couple of times. Not a bad first week with numerous catches each day. I have been getting mostly smaller bass this week until tonight. I had about an hour to fish. The wife wanted me to put some Johnsonville's on the grill. How could I say no to that! I brought my daughter with as she wanted to check out the frog situation. Second cast of the evening and a nice pig hammered my crankbait. Even with the cold water, I have been burning the crankbaits with good success. This girl stopped the crank dead in it's track. Not a bad way to start the weekend even if the weather won't cooperate.
Everything is right with this tale, down to the grilling and taking his daughter along.
