Border NWR: Hackmatack?

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

A faithful reader sent me a note about the push for Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge along the Wisconsin-Illinois border in Walworth and McHenry counties.

He assumed I had heard of it. I had not. But I am intrigued.

I wish them well and wonder how it will go.

One of my great disappointments in Chicago outdoors is how the push for the NWR assocaited with the Kankakee River just fizzled over the last decade. In the late 1990s, it looked so hopeful.
