Stuff of dreams: Face on Illinois' record youth deer hunt

I was torn on what photo to use as the lead to the story of Freddie March's first deer during illinois' record-setting youth firearm deer hunt over the weekend.

This 10-point was caught on a trail cam. Then March and his dad Fred Jr. saw it Saturday morning, but it made the duo and young March never was able to raise his gun for a shot.

That was just one of many neat things in the hunt on Saturday for the March father and son in Vermilion County. His story is the bulk of today's outdoors column in the Sun-Times..

Oh, in case you wondering, the young March, a 9-year-old fourth-grader from Wood Dale, made a good broadside shot at 50 yards to drop the yearling doe above.
